Concours de broderie "Pour l'Amour du Fil" 2020 / "my cup of tea" Contest

Chers amis, cette année et pour la première fois de ma carrière de brodeuse, j'ai décidé de participer au concours du salon de Nantes  "Pour l'Amour du Fil" : "C'est ma tasse de thé". En tant que anglophone et buveuse de thé, je ne pouvais qu'être concernée et inspirée !

Dear friends, for the first time in my life, I have decided to take part in an embroidery contest : the international textile show in Nantes hosts a context called "My Cup of Tea", as a tea lover I had to do it !

J'ai utilisé de la toile coton et du mouliné classique (argenté pour le dragon, doré pour le fond de la tasse). Je me suis inspirée d'une tasse que je possède et du fait que pour moi prendre le temps de boire un thé c'est faire une pause dans notre quotidien et pouvoir laisser son esprit vagabonder... vers l'imaginaire, pourquoi pas. J'aime aussi beaucoup les dragons qui peuvent être représentés de pleins de façons différentes et sont si riches en symboles.

I used cotton fabric and Classic DMC emboidery thread (silver for the dragon and gold for the cup).

I was inspired by one of my favourite cups I had bought in England and by the fact that drinking tea is always a peaceful and rather meditative break in our hectic everyday life. You can let you mind and imagination wander. And I also love dragons that can be represented in many way and that are always highly symbolic creatures.

Cette création a demandé environ un mois de "travail" entre les premières idées et le montage final.

J'étais heureuse cogiter sur un sujet précis et je suis très contente du résultat final donc ce n'est pas grave si je ne suis pas sélectionnée. Je me suis vraiment fait plaisir !

 It was made in about one month starting from the first ideas to the final sewing. I was very happy to think about this project and work on it so if it's not selected it's not very important. I had so much fun creating it !

Simple knits in December (free knitting pattern inside)

Un petit retour sur mes tricots de Décembre ... J'ai fait dans la simplicité et le confort...

Back to my knittings of December that were simple but comfy...

Le pull blanc est un modèle gratuit de Ravelry : le pull Lina. Je l'ai tricoté avec de la laine en cône achetée en brocante. C'est un modèle facile et relaxant à tricoter.

The white jumper is a Ravelry free pattern in French and English :  the Lina Sweater and I knitted it with second hand wool I had found in a brocante. It's a very simple and relaxing pattern.

Le pull bleu est un modèle pour homme gratuit de chez Phildar que j'ai adapté pour ma machine à tricoter très basique. C'est mon premier pull tricoté à la machine et c'était un cadeau de Noël pour un jeune homme grand...donc c'était bien de le faire à la machine ! 

The blue jumper is a free pattern for men from Phildar  I adapted for my very basic knitting machine. It's my first ever machine knitted sweater. It's knitted in baby alpaca I had bought in Italy. It was a Christmas present for a tall young man so it was better machine-knitted !

Et voilà....nous sommes déjà en Février..

Once and Floral

This Once and Floral sweater was really a first for me and needed some concentration but I'm very happy with it. I finished it just before christmas but I was so buzy enjoying the Christmas holidays that I didn't show it to you before !

Ce pull Once and Floral était vraiment une première et demandait de la concentration. Je le trouve vraiment réussi. Je l'ai terminé juste avant Noël mais j'étais tellement occupée par les fêtes que je ne vous l'ai pas montré avant !

Ceci n'est pas une fleur...

Recyclage de cravates et chemise assorties achetées en brocante, d'après un modèle d'estampe chinoise pour la forme des pétales. Dommage que l'aspect satiné des tissus ne soit pas visible sur les photos !

Upcycling coordonated shirt and ties bought in a brocante. I got inspired by a chinese painting for the shape of the petals. It's a pity you can't see the silky aspect of the fabrics on the photos !
